Electricity is the most important factor for the economic development of a country and our prime goal is not only electricity production but also finding new energy sources and improvement of the ecological awareness. Electricity is not gift from God, it is the most sophisticated energy source. Our country abounds with various natural treasures and resources which could provide enough energy for all our necessities. We improve nature and we create energy.

For us in JSC Power Plants of North Macedonia (JSC ESM) every drop of water and every piece of land has enormous significance because we know that there is power there, the power of the energy is hidden there. JSC ESM is the pillar of the country, without its stability there is no better and safer future and therefore there should not be delaying of the development solution for the future of our system. Our hydro and thermo capacities are working constantly and are maintained day and night.

From our capacities we provide around 90 % from the entire domestic production. We produce average annual up to 5000 GWh electricity from the thermo power plants which are with installed capacity of 824 MW, while from the hydro power plants, which are with installed capacity of 554 MW, we produce 1200 GWh average annual electricity. From the wind park, with installed capacity of 36.8 MW, we produce more than 100 GWh average annual electricity.

ZIP Institute is an independent, nongovernmental organization which aims at improving democratic processes, the rule of law and the development of civil society in the Republic of North Macedonia, through tailor-made solutions to the most pressing social, societal and systematic problems.

A key feature of the work of ZIP Institute are detailed, encompassing analyses, initiatives and actions on local, national and regional levels, as well as  connecting the processes of research and analysis with tangible solutions to the most pressing problems and contributing to policy-making processes.

The U.S. Embassy in Skopje works to advance bilateral relations with the government and people of Macedonia, engaging foreign affairs, business, civil society, education, and other communities to promote issues of mutual interest.

Staffed by over 70 Americans and nearly 240 locally-engaged staff and under the leadership of the Ambassador, the Mission:

  • Explains and advocates U.S. Government positions on a range of bilateral, regional, and global political, economic, social, and environmental concerns;
  • Supports North Macedonia’s efforts to develop a robust, job-creating economy that produces sustained GDP growth;
  • Strengthens North Macedonia’s judicial and law enforcement capacities, particularly to combat corruption, trafficking in persons, and organized crime;
  •  Bolsters democratic institutions and supports the full implementation of the 2001 Ohrid Framework Agreement, in both letter and spirit;
  •  Reinforces close ties with North Macedonia as a model ally in the region and as an invaluable contributor to the Global War on Terror; and
  • Promotes understanding of U.S. society and values to ensure that future generations share common interests and goals.

The government aims to regain the lost energy security and stability of North Macedonia, reduce energy and energy costs, and make the sun a source of energy in the households. The government will provide energy availability to all citizens and enterprises.

Innovative solutions and advanced technologies for energy production will be stimulated to reduce the share of fossil fuels and increase production from renewable energy sources. The reduction of energy imports will be a result of combining energy efficiency and energy savings, rational production of own energy and a meaningful performance on the regional and international markets for electricity, natural gas and oil derivatives.

The Government will support rational electricity production by transforming TEC Negotino into an energy-agricultural plant, building HPP Cebren and HPP Galishte, optimizing the Pelagon coal basin, implementing the most up-to-date environmental standards in TPP Bitola and TPP Oslomej.
