Fatmir Besimi currently serves as the Minister of Finance in the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia. He held a number of public and state positions. He was elected Deputy Prime Minister in charge of European Affairs, Minister of Economy, and Director of the Public Enterprise for Airport Services. He was Co-Chair of the Council for Economic Growth and Sustainable Development within the Office of the Prime Minister, Special Adviser to the Prime Minister, Co-Chair of the National Committee, National IPA Coordinator, Coordinator of the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance and Bilateral Financial Support, as well as a member of the National Security Council as Minister of Defense. Fatmir Besimi has a rich career in the banking sector. He served as Deputy Governor of the National Bank, and was an economist at the World Bank Office in Kosovo.
